Cindy Petzoldt
I'm a volunteer at Dougherty Ferry Assisted Living where I lead a weekly singalong in the Memory Care area. Bob spent a lot of time in Memory Care to support Anne. They were clearly deeply devoted to each other. Even when the pandemic forced those in Assisted Living (Bob) to stay away from Memory Care, Bob would be sitting near the reception desk when I would sign in on Friday mornings. "Hi, Cindy," he'd say. "I can't go in today, but you let me know how it goes." An hour later, he'd still be sitting there and I'd call out to him, "Anne was there, singing at the top of her voice." He'd always thank me. Singing with Bob and Anne is still high on my list of weekly activities - and I"m happy to report that today (Dec. 31) Anne was at the singalong, enjoying the music and lending her voice as always. I know absolutely that Bob was beaming his wonderful smile on us today and every day. My condolences to the family and friends he leaves behind. But I truly believe God took Bob when it was best for Bob. Anne is being well cared for - I can tell the staff is as fond of Anne and Bob as I am. Today we ended with "Auld Lang Syne" for New Year's Eve, and we all "drank a cup of kindness" in Bob's memory. Anne was glowing. Just as Bob would want her to be. May God bless all of you.
