Benjamin Kershman's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that the family of Benjamin Kershman announces his sudden and unexpected passing on April 20, 2025, at the age of 62. Ben was, above all, a man of love—a humble humanitarian. Quietly devoted and endlessly curious, he showed his care in the way he listened, the way he showed up, and the way he believed in people’s goodness. With everyone he met, Ben moved through life with grace, generosity, and purpose.
Born October 19, 1962, to Herschel Kershman and MaryLou Burke, Ben dedicated 38 years to Boeing as an aerospace engineer. His work was more than a career—it was service. As a key contributor to a landmark defense initiative, he offered not only skill, but vision. To Ben, engineering wasn’t just science—it was stewardship. His brilliance lives on in every design meant to protect peace through foresight, not force.
Beyond defense, Ben championed diversity. As an active member of the St. Louis World Affairs Council, he uplifted dialogue, cultural exchange, and a worldview rooted in shared humanity.
Ben is lovingly remembered by his wife, Anna Tran, and their sons, James Tran and Ian Kershman; his mother, MaryLou Burke; siblings, Rose Halbert, Stephanie Griffin, David Kershman, Jonathan Morris, and Nichole Olea; in-laws Dan and Tammy Tran; nephews, Kyle Pedersen, and Nate Kershman; niece, Anis McLin-Morris; grand nieces and nephews, Sina McLin, Cameron Olea, Koan Morris, Alethea Morris, and Burke Morris; as well as many cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Herschel Kershman, sister Karen Morris, and brother-in-law William Griffin.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 13 at 4:00 PM at Piper Palm House, located at 4271 Northeast Dr. (within Tower Grove Park) St. Louis, MO 63110; officiated by Rabbi Susan Talve, who united Ben and Anna 20 years ago.
