Cynthia Louise Goswick

Cynthia “Cindy” Louise Goswick was born on October 15, 1955. She was the youngest of three children born to Ernest Edwin Goswick and Ruth Eudena Metcalf in Greene County, Missouri. During her formative years, she enjoyed time vacationing with the family as well as frequenting their Table Rock lakeside cabin off of Joe Bald Road in Kimberling City. She grew up in Springfield, attending all grades there, beginning at Portland Elementary School, and eventually graduating Parkview High School in 1973. Thereafter, she completed a year and a half at SMSU where she received certification as a Respiratory Therapist and developed her life-long journey and passion for helping others. In December 1974, Cindy began her working career with Cox Health Systems, at Cox North. In August 1975, Cindy married John Moore, her high school sweetheart, and in January 1977, the wedded couple moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas and Cindy obtained a position at Washington Regional Medical Center. In December 1978, their daughter, Amanda Nicole was born, preceding her and John’s divorce in July 1982. Cindy relocated back to her hometown and continued her path in Respiratory Therapy at St. John’s Regional, eventually becoming the head of the Respiratory Therapy Department at Springfield Park Central Hospital. In March of 1984, Cindy continued to advance her career and obtained employment at Gordon Hospital in Calhoun, Georgia as the director of the Cardiopulmonary Department, where she maintained this position until 1991. While in Georgia, Cindy married Louis Edward Allen in October 1985, and in October 1987, her second child, Wesley Ryan was born. In late 1991, as Ernest and Ruth were aging, Cindy made the decision to relocate the family back to Springfield. She held various positions in retail, and this eventually ignited her passion for antiques, working for a long-time family friend as the manager and bookkeeper for Old Theater Antique Mall in Nixa, MO until 1994. However, her passion for helping others in the medical field persisted and she obtained employment with Skaggs Community Health Center, opening the hospital’s first Sleep Laboratory in Branson, operating this section of the cardiopulmonary department for multiple years as the sole employee. In September 2000, Cindy obtained employment in Springfield as a Sleep Technician for Cox South Hospital. Despite her love of working in the medical field, Cindy’s health declined and she was placed on disability. However, this did not prevent Cindy from continuing to care for others. As her mother passed in 2004, she moved in with her father to care for him in approximately 2010. After her father’s passing in 2018, Cindy moved to Branson to live near her daughter and her family. Cindy loved her family, her children, her son-in-law, Tom, and her nieces and nephews, Jeff, David, Mary, and Brian, and especially adored her grandchildren, Makayli, Matthew, Mahlia, Luke, and McKenna. Hearing a child’s laughter was music to her ears. She loved making cakes and delighted in planning a party. Cindy enjoyed the slower pace, spending time with grade school friends, Debbie and Becky, crafting, painting, going to the movies, attending family events, cuddling with her cats, Pepper and Penne, picking berries at Persimmon Hill, shopping, going to live theatre performances, and of course, collecting everything related to The Beatles. She always said her true love was Paul McCartney, an affection for him that began when she was a young teen after seeing him perform with the Beatles for the first time on the Ed Sullivan Show. Cindy was fascinated by the moon and natural environmental phenomenon and she was an avid environmentalist. She volunteered at Wonders of Wildlife, once they reopened their doors for a second time in Springfield, and also gave freely of her time ringing the bell for the Salvation Army and Help Gives Hope during the holiday season. She donated generously to multiple causes, including Riley’s Treasures/House of Hope and Joey’s Closet in Branson. Not only will she be immensely missed by her family, the impact will be greatly felt by the community as a whole. She was known for her wise advice, generosity, and her comforting and considerate nature. Heaven truly gained an angel on June 10, 2024, when she lost her 5+ year battle with breast cancer. Cindy proceeds her eldest sibling, Marcia Kay, in death and will be laid to rest in Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri next to her brother, Ernest “Eddie” Edwin Goswick, Jr. Celebration of Life Services will be held on September 20, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home located at 708 State Highway 248 in Branson. The family would request attendees wear Beatles attire at the service in support and that any generous donations be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks at bcfo.org in lieu of flowers Aquamation Services provided by Hughes Funeral & Aquamation Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
