Virginia Mae Hughes' Obituary
Virginia Mae Hughes passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 at her home in Louisville, Kentucky at the age of 85 years, 5 months, and 30 days.
Virginia was born on December 4, 1936 in Smiths Grove, Kentucky to the late Hamilton Gilbert and Hazel Gilbert (nee Carroll). She was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Hughes; and sisters: Irene Jones and Nella Thomas.
Virginia is survived by her children: Tonda (Rev. Grant) Minton, Thomas Hughes, Edward (Donna) Hughes, Barbara (Dr. Marcus Bond) Hughes, Melissa (Mark) Wilkerson, Kimberely (Robert) McMahon, Elaine (Bryan) Reed, and Jeremy Hughes; grandchildren: Rev. Aaron (Courtney) Hughes, Adam (Mariah) Clark, Jonathan (Erin) Hughes, Alexandria (Bart Long) Hughes, Andrew (Kaitie) Clark, Carly (Jace) Haggermaker, Samuel Wilkerson, Nicholas Wilkerson, Hamilton (Savannah) Hughes, Elijah Reed, Jacob McMahon, and Evan Caroline Reed; great-grandmother of Adeline Hughes, Kinley Clark, Grayston Hughes, Harper Hughes, Elliot Clark, Maggie Hughes, Ahliya Barton, Charlie Hughes, Hadley Clark, Sebastian Hughes, Boyer Hughes, Liam Clark, Jack Haggermaker, and Oscar Long; and honorary family member, Dr. David Easley.
Virginia is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.
A private memorial service, officiated by Rev. Grant Minton and Rev. Aaron Hughes, will be held at Auburn Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Auburn, Kentucky.
