Stephanie Lynne Smith-Nothum's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephanie Lynne Smith-Nothum on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at her residence in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 74.
Stephanie was born on December 5, 1949 in San Antonio, TX, to the late Walter E. Smith Jr. and the late Clarice E. Smith (nee Douglas). She attended Parkway High School and later became a licensed cosmetologist. Stephanie was known for her strong will, undying Christian faith, unwavering determination, and love for doing hair. This served her well in 1990, when she single-handedly fought and won a 10 year batte against the city of Richmond Heights, MO to open her own business at 1614 S. Big Bend Blvd.- Stephanie's Hair Care; later re branded- Professional Hair Designers. She practiced cosmetology for 50 years.
Stephanie is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, John Nothum; daughter, Beth Dewalt; grandchildren: Matthew Johnson and Riley Williams; brother Michael Smith; sister-in-law Huison Smith (nee Choi); nieces Kimberly Maserang (nee Smith), Janet Vega (nee Smith), and Sarah Smith
She was a loving wife, mother, Mimi and also a loving great aunt, cousin, sister-in-law, and dear friend to many.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Susan Olsen (nee Smith), along with their parents.
She lived her life the best she knew and left this earth wishing that her family and friends would find good health and peace. In honor of her final wishes, Stephanie's remains will be laid to rest next to her mother and sister in Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Hughes Funeral Alternatives at Hillcrest Abbey Chapel, 3211 Sublette Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri 63139.
