Sandra L. Foster's Obituary
Sandra “Sandy” L. Foster passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 69 years, 6 months, and 5 days.
Sandra was born on November 9, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Harry Norden and Josephine Norden. She is also preceded in death her siblings: Charles “Ore” Norden and Wanda Goodrich; brother-in-law, Larry Goodrich; and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Vogelsang.
Sandy was the loving mother of: Jason (Kimberly) Vogelsang of Lake St. Louis, MO, Joseph (Michelle) Vogelsang of New Haven, MO, and Jeremy Vogelsang of Robertsville, MO; grandchildren: Tyler Vogelsang, Katelyn (Grant) Gore, Kristopher Vogelsang, Natalee Vogelsang, Brookelyn Vogelsang, and Keagan Vogelsang; great-grandchildren: Adrian Gore, Aria Gore, and Brayden Gore.
She is also survived by her siblings Linda (Jim) Ellerman, Tim (Kay) Norden, and Daniel Norden; sister-in-law, Sharon Norden; along with many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her life was also enriched by her beloved furkids—Dewey, Zoey, and Buddy—who brought her immense comfort and joy.
Sandy grew up in St. Clair, Missouri, and graduated from St. Clair High School in 1974. She was first married to Edwin J. Vogelsang III, with whom she had three sons. Though their marriage ended in divorce, they shared the joy of starting a family together. Edwin has since passed.
Sandy later married Philip Akridge, Sr., who played an important role in her children’s lives. That marriage, too, ended in divorce, and Philip has also passed. She was also previously married to Frank Foster.
For the past eight years, Sandy shared her life with her partner, Mark Lackey of Steelville, Missouri. Through him, she came to know his children, Monty and Kayla.
Sandy had a deep love of the outdoors and nature. Whether camping under the stars, cooling off in the creek, riding a bike in the breeze or driving around cruising the backroads in search of critters, she embraced life's simple pleasures. Her family fondly recalls the campfires, campouts, and summertime outings on the water to swim and relax. She enjoyed puzzles, games, bargain shopping, Bible reading, and binge watching TV shows or movies.
Professionally, Sandy held a variety of roles—starting in retail, then working in manufacturing, and later earning a data entry certificate from East Central College. She also served in hotel housekeeping and front desk reception, always bringing her warm, friendly spirit to her work.
A woman of Christian faith, Sandy lived with kindness, resilience, and a deep love for those around her. Her laughter, generosity, and adventurous soul will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
