Ruth Elaine Volk's Obituary
Ruth Elaine Volk (nee Vogt) passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 81 years, 2 months, and 15 days.
Ruth was born on January 18, 1943 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania to the late William Vogt and Helen Vogt (nee DiVirgilo). She is also preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Carin "Nicole" Kafigian.
She is survived by her loving son, Douglas (Jennifer) Kafigian, grandchildren: Dougie and David Kafigian; and brother, William (Judith) Vogt.
Ruth was also a loving cousin, aunt, and a loyal friend to many.
Ruth was a dedicated advocate with a passion for helping others. Her mission in life was to educate people about teen suicide which is why she founded LETS, "Lets End Teenage Suicide". She was a longtime member and volunteer at The Rock Church in Ballwin. Ruth retired after working for Maritiz in St. Louis for many years. She also enjoyed going to her water aerobics class and playing cards. Forever a social butterfly, there was rarely a day that Ruth did not have a social or lunch event planned with her friends.
A memorial service will be held at Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road at Holloway, Ballwin on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place following the service in the Schrader Family Center from 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
