I met Richard in 1988 when he walked into the room was a long black coat on that accentuated his eloquence and quiet charm without pretense. His friend Zolt from Hungary who was also dressed in black accompanied him. We became friends that night and shared canoe trips morning coffees and symphonies and so much more. I gifted him with a manual typewriter to capture his poetry and store his memories. These will always be with me for our friendship is eternal. Thank you Richard. Gary Behrman

My family lived up the street from Mr.
Richard for years. He was a favorite of our girls when they were small. He was always willing to stop his gardening for long chats with them. We'll miss the Tholozan Ave gossip and the garden tips.

Keeping him and his family in our hearts and our prayers.

We lived on Tholozan with Richard, and were frequent visitors to his front yard and porch. He always had a smile, and something warm, witty and poetic to share. He loved the sun, his garden, and connecting with everyone in the neighborhood. For the last few years, we shared moments of joy and delight, building and rearranging small structures together in the front yard. He was always delighted by a new rock arrangement or hidden gems.

I remember learning that we shared the same last name. It was always special knowing that in some way, he really was a long lost uncle. I miss Richard already.

I have known Richard since I was in high school. My family frequented Frazer's and we would have Richard as our server. Years later, as an adult, I moved to Tholozan and was delighted to learn that Richard was my neighbor and he has been a close friend ever since. Richard was warm, welcoming, genuine, and kind. He was a wonderful neighbor. His yard was enviable with his meticulous and unique landscape. He had rocks and treasures out in his yard and welcomed the neighborhood kids to build towers and visit and enjoy his yard. My dog Jewel LOVED visiting Richard's house as she knew she would be doted upon. Richard would come down and help me place my Christmas decorations and in the spring would move my extremely heavy planters and give friendly insight about plants and flowers in my yard. He would always ask how my family was doing and ask me to pass along his regards when I saw them. Richard was always patient. Always sincere. Always ready to help out and never wanted anything in return. His heart was pure and he will be greatly missed. I will treasure my memories with him.

Richard was a beloved coworker of mine at Winslows Table. He was always a source of light and encouragement, and I'll never forget how he was particularly kind to me. I saw how many people he touched during his day to day life, and he has made a lasting impact on me. Thank you to Richard for being my "superstar" and being a genuinely kind human. My condolences to the family, and I'm glad to know he was surrounded by love in his final moments.
