Michael James McWhorter's Obituary
Michael James McWhorter, 64, of Saint Peters, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025 in his home, surrounded by loved ones. Born on January 12, 1961, in Rolla, Missouri, Michael lived a life marked by dedication to his work, love for the outdoors, and deep connections with his family and friends.
Michael built a long and fulfilling career as a machinist at Planet Tool & Engineering, where he worked for over 30 years and formed lasting friendships and created countless memories. He often shared stories of workplace shenanigans and mischief that brought laughter to those around him.
Outside of work, Michael found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing and camping with his family. Every year he looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Oklahoma with his brothers Charles, Richard, Willie and his nephew Timmy. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, was an avid fan of football and NASCAR, and loved both playing games like washers and Cornhole as well as watching his favorite sports. His backyard was a haven for birds and animals, whom he faithfully fed and cared for, though he was in constant battle with Grackles, Starlings and Groundhogs. Yard work wasn’t just a chore for Michael; it was something he took immense pride in and each day you could find him faithfully tending to his yard and pool, always sure they were pristine. Above all else, he cherished spending time with his family and friends and bringing them joy and laughter.
Michael is lovingly remembered by his daughter Brandi Lynn (Marco), his son Michael Robert (Erika), and his grandson Michael Robert Jr. He is also survived by his sisters Carol Ann (Walter), Donna Belle (Ray), Mildred Sue (Walter), Judy Faye (Don), Debra Lou (Michael), and his brother Charles Alferd (Nancy), as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Alferd and Virginia Ruth; his siblings Netta Joyce, Gene Elvan (Marcelle), Richard Lee (Lucy), Betty Ruth (Jim), William David (Pat), and Patricia Louise (Larry).
Michael’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to know him; through shared memories and stories, laughter around a campfire or a game of Cornhole, in quiet moments while listening to the birds, but always when and where his family and friends are gathered.
Michael was a beautiful, loving and noble man who touched the lives of many. He will be greatly and deeply missed.
