Melissa Kim McLeaster passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at SSM Health DePaul Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 83 years, 2 months, and 15 days.
Melissa was born on August 17, 1940 in China to the late Jaemun Kim and Ui Kim (nee Chu).
Melissa is survived by her daughter, Karen Hughes of Jefferson City, Missouri; brothers: In Hoi (Seongyeon) Kim of South Korea, Song Hoe (Pyong) Kim of St. Robert, Missouri, and Deokhoe Kim of South Korea; nephews: Hui Chae (Doris) Kim of Lebanon, Missouri, Hui Chol (Heidi) Kim of North Las Vegas, Nevada, Kwangwoo (Seonhwa) Kim of South Korea, Tae Hyeon of South Korea, and Tae Gil of South Korea; nieces: Hyon Suk (Kwon) Kim of Woodstock, Virginia and Hee Su (Heige Pomorin) of Berlin, Germany; great-nieces: Rachel, Michelle Leighanne, Ga Eun, and Ga Hui; and great-nephews: Jonah and Suh Jun.
Melissa was known for taking great care of all the neighborhood cats.. Friends would often find her outside tending flowers and decorating her garden areas. She also loved to cook and will always be remembered for her legendary
pot roast.
Per her wishes, Melissa was donated to Logan University in Chesterfield, Missouri to help the advancement of medicine and education.
