Mark Poe's Obituary
Mark Eugene Poe passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at BJC Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, Missouri at the age of 80.
Mark was born on November 14, 1943 in Brookings, South Dakota to the late Carl Poe and Mary Poe (nee Deal).
Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Sharon Poe; sister, Carolyn Holbrook; sister-in-law, Donna Guss; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mark was born in South Dakota and grew up mainly in Chicago and Kansas City. A preacher's kid, he grew up singing in church. Sharon called him her Renaissance Man, with degrees in piano performance, music composition, library science, and systems engineering plus being a classically trained vocalist. They met in college and shared 56 years of a wonderful and adventurous marriage.
Mark continued his hobbies of singing and directing choirs and choruses throughout his life with Sharon singing in most of them, except for Barbershop! They also enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveling the world, and were members of the Alpha Psi Omega drama fraternity and acted in several community theater productions.
His working career included Trails Regional Library, Social Security Administration, Anheuser-Busch, and Barnes Hospital.
Mark was well known for his quick wit, charm, vast intelligence, and sweet kindness.
