Marilyn Joy Shampaine's Obituary
Marilyn Joy Shampaine passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 23, 2022. She was born on August 9, 1931. Marilyn was the daughter of Julius and Bertha Kravitz and grew up and lived her entire 90 years in St. Louis, Missouri.
Marilyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Poslosky, who lives in Sausalito, California; her daughter and grandson Jillian and Brel Froebe and daughter-in- law Elizabeth Kerwin who live in Bellingham, Washington; and her cousins, the Mayer Family who live in St. Louis
Marilyn had a creative spirit in everything she did, from adorning her clothes with the perfect scarves and pins to making beautiful flower arrangements for the table. She had a keen eye and appreciation for fashion and was for many years the co-owner of The Right Door, a women's clothing boutique in Ladue.
Marilyn loved joining friends for spirited games of bridge and mahjong and painting in the art room at The Gatesworth, her cherished home for the past decade.
Most of all, Marilyn had a heart of gold, and she will be profoundly missed in the hearts of her family and her friends.
Hafiz, the ancient Sufi poet wrote, "Even after all this time, the sun never says to the Earth, 'you owe me'. Look what happens with a love like that. It lights up the whole sky."
Marilyn, thank you for lighting up our hearts.
