Marcia Novick Levin's Obituary
Marcia Novick Levin, age 64, died on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
She was surrounded in love and supported by her partner of 42 years, Margaret Flowing Johnson and her two cats, Walnut and Sassafras. Marcia was born in Easton, PA, grew up in New York and Texas, and lived her adult life in St. Louis, MO.
Marcia was a fervent feminist activist, a caring and dedicated social worker with St. Louis County Victim Services Council, Reproductive Health Services and Small World Adoption Agency. She was a dear and loved member of a large framily, and is survived by her father, Samuel Levin, sister, Susan Levin and Susan’s husband, James Raser, and her very specially loved nephew, Cameron Raser.
Marcia and Flowing, with others, created St. Louis Queer Nation and used non-violent disobedience to improve the lives and welfare of the LGBT+ community. Marcia loved, collected and created beautiful things. She was a masterful knitter, among other artistic talents, and made many people happy with gifts from her heart. Her quick and dry wit were unmatched by most.
A memorial service will be held in St. Louis, MO, in May of this year. Details will be posted here when finalized.
