Tom Cleary
As a cousin of Mary's, I always looked forward to visits from her and Marc. They were and are great role models and reminders to me that being unusual is not only OK but can be a joyful experience. It was so powerful and affirming to have their support while I did strange things like write a science fiction and fantasy newsletter with my brother, make music of various kinds, and get married. Marc was always both so knowledgeable and so supportive about seemingly every new thing I tried. Making videos, playing guitar, being a husband: Marc had already been there, learned to do it expertly, had a great time doing it, and was willing to show me the ropes. He was also always ready to go down rabbit-holes and off on tangents that interested both of us when we had the time. He and Mary attended our wedding equipped for a two camera shoot and turned it into an amazing film in their inimitable style, for which we will forever be grateful. On the day after, we got to talking about jazz and poetry, and he asked me to make him a compilation CD of it, for which he reciprocated with some CDs of his favorite music. I'll be listening to those for years and thinking of him. So long and godspeed, Marc, you will be in our hearts forever.
