Kenny Dewayne Volner's Obituary
Kenny Dewayne Volner, 65, of Steelville, Missouri, passed away on August 30, 2023. Born on June 25, 1958, in St. Louis, Missouri, Kenny was a kind and gentle soul who took great pride in his Cherokee Indian heritage. He dedicated countless hours to researching and preserving his family's history. Kenny had a deep love for horses and cherished the farm life.
Proceeding Kenny in death was his Mother Ivon Needham, Father Kenneth E. Volner, Brother Terry F. Volner, Brother Keith Volner, Sister Tammie Volner Skiles, and Brother Kenneth George Volner.
Although Kenny did not have any children of his own, he embraced his role as an uncle and friend to every child he encountered. He had a special bond with his nieces, Lori Fielding (Patrick) of Brighton, Colorado, and Lisa Lasica (Corey) of Denver, Colorado. Kenny leaves behind a large and loving family, including his surviving siblings: Chris E. Volner of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; Teresa Boivin of Citrus Springs, Florida; Darlene Retkowski of St. James, Missouri; John Volner of Steelville, Missouri; Janet Roberts-Krieger (Glenn) of Hollywood Florida; Steven Volner of Cherryville, Missouri; Martin Volner of Cherryville, Missouri; David Volner of Ironton, Missouri; and Susanne Medley of Steelville. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and cousins.
Kenny attended Fox C-6 in Arnold, and was a graduate of Northwest High School in Fenton, Missouri. He retired his professional journey as a Student Assistant at Spring Valley Youth Ranch in Black, Missouri. His dedication and compassion made a positive impact on the lives of the youth he worked with.
A Celebration of Life honoring Kenny Volner will be held at a future date, to be announced. During this gathering, family and friends will come together to commemorate Kenny's life and share cherished memories.
Kenny Volner will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kind and gentle nature, love for his heritage, and devotion to family and friends will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace
