Julia Richter's Obituary
Julia Richter crossed the rainbow bridge to begin her next adventure (as she put it) on Friday, November 7, 2025 at her home in St. Louis, MO at the age of 74 after living with stage 4 pancreatic cancer for four-and-a-half years. Julia was born in Bronx, New York to Irving and Gladys and brother Mark, all of blessed memory. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years Ira, cherished children Melanie, Adam, and Shana, her 3 precious grandchildren Farah, Gina, and Alayna, and the many people who treasure her memory.
Julia had many skills and interests including teaching over 100 people to play Mah Jongg playing bridge and May I, reading, attending theater, bird watching, crocheting, writing books, and painting. She made sure to provide a Jewish home and indulged her family and friends in many of her Jewish recipes including challah, brisket, and chicken soup with matzah balls. She became a social worker but prioritized being home with her family. She loved traveling to all 50 states and to several countries as well, but valued
time with her family and friends above all.
Julia’s celebration of life will be on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at 2:30pm at Shaare Emeth Congregation, 11645 Ladue Rd, St. Louis, MO 63141. Shiva will take place at Ira’s home 11662 Holly Springs Drive, St. Louis, MO 63146 on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights 5-8pm with the service at approximately 6pm.
