Juan Baltazar passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 48 years, 4 months, and 15 days.
Juan was born on January 1, 1977 in Pedras Negras, Mexico to Juana Gonzalez- Dela Cruz and the late Jorge Baltazar-Alvares.
Along with his mother, Juan is survived by his loving wife of 8 years, Rachel Baltazar; children: Lilia Martinez, Juan Martinez, Lesly Martinez, Antonio Martinez, Martin Baltazar, Rosalia Baltazar, and Matias Baltazar.
Others who held a special place in Juan’s life include Martin’s mother and step-father, Jennifer Hartley and Nick Brown; sister-in-law, Shardon Crider; and very special friend, LaCrisha Trevino.
Juan was a beloved member of the St. Louis community, who brought joy, flavor, and rhythm to all who knew him. Known for his passion for fishing, billiards, dancing, and music, Juan lived life with a contagious energy and a deep love for the simple pleasures. He was the proud owner and operator of El Mandilón, a beloved food truck that became a local favorite, serving up delicious street corn with a side of heart and soul. Whether he was casting a line at his favorite fishing spot, showing off his moves on the dance floor, or playing his favorite tunes, Juan made every moment count. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, humor, and unforgettable cooking.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2025 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Hughes Funeral Alternatives Chapel, 3211 Sublette Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri 63139.
