Dear John,
We first met at a cultural and sport for life festival in Silkeborg, Denmark in the international tent, where Berea College Country Dancers performed in front of Queen Margrethe - 1991.
Over the years, we stayed in touch and I appreciate your trust in me, your kind and encouraging words. Thanks to you and Bernie for helping me hosting The National Danish Performance Team in St. Louis many moons ago.
My original ten months in Berea., KY as a "visiting Dane" is now almost 30 years. John, you're the main engine behind that. Thank you and Peace.

Dr. John was such an important part of my life. His encouragement to be involved in country dancing and community recreation while at Berea College got me a hobby that has kept me amused and happy my whole adult life. He trusted me enough to have me drive the bus on a tour for the Danish Exchange group after my graduation in 1986. I have lots of memories of that trip, good and bad, but I was thrilled that he considered me responsible enough to do it.
He led us on so many trips and I can't imagine how my life would be different without having experienced those things.
We shared an April 9th birthday and I think of him each time that day rolls around.
