Kathleen Bayless
I first met Joanie in the Kirkwood Y shower room. She was laughing while sharing the story of her house catching fire. I had to meet her! Joanie was a regular "Wet Head,"part of a group, mostly seniors, that swam daily, meeting at McDonalds to socialize after. Younger and out of work, I felt immediately accepted by this loving community of friends. Joanie and I shared an interest in metaphysics and began swapping books. Next, we became friends. Meeting weekly for 8 years with several friends, we supported one another and ourselves. Joanie's open-heartedness, laughter, and generosity of spirit was so contagious and endearing! Joanie's greeting, "How has God shown up in your life?" or "Tell me your best _____ story" made me appreciate her unique way of being. Joanie, I unconditionally love and support you, just the way you are, in all your power and magnificence! Love, Kathleen Bayless
