James Scot Yates' Obituary
James Scot Yates passed away Friday, April 4, 2025, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis,
MO at the age of 56. Scot was born August 28, 1968, in Bonne Terre, and preceded in death by
his father, Gary L. Yates
Survivors include his mother, Donna M. (Jenkins) Yates, sister, Sarah Dreier (Jon), all of St.
Louis, MO and brother, Steven Yates (Amanda) of Bonne Terre, MO. Nephews, Elden, Elliot,
and Cam and nieces Lorelei and Alex. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, lifelong friends, Jeff
Cauley, Michael Mund, Brian Rayburn and John Wiseman and many other friends.
Scott was an avid sports fan and a lover of music. He cherished his family and friends and had
an infectious laugh, just like his dad, that filled the room!
A celebration of Scot gathering will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Iron Knot, 20 Church St.,
Bonne Terre, MO from 3:30 – 7:00 PM. The family requests that you wear your favorite sports
attire.
A celebration of life memorial will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Lafayette Park United
Methodist Church, 2300 Lafayette Avenue, St. Louis, MO at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Cardinal Care at MLB.com and The
BackStoppers at www.backstoppers.org.
