Jacqueline Rose Hess' Obituary
Jacqueline Rose (Petersen) Hess passed away on November 2nd, 2022. Jackie was a loving and spirited mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and wife. She was born to Amos and Lorena Govero in Festus, Missouri on September 20th, 1927. She was the eldest child of three, with a sister Marian and brother Billy.
Jackie graduated from Ursuline Academy in Arcadia, Missouri in 1945, after which she returned home to Festus, Missouri to work with the family business, CES Truckline. Jackie met Kenneth "Pete" Petersen, her husband of 64 years on a blind date. They were married in Crystal City, Missouri on August 21st, 1948. They lived many happy years in Bonne Terre, Missouri where they raised their four children; Carolyn, Keith, Mary, and Linda.
Jackie was an expert seamstress, and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and gardening. She and Pete loved music and dancing and shared their passion with their children. Jackie greatly enjoyed cooking and baking, and visitors to the house around the holidays were never permitted to leave without a healthy supply of Christmas cookies. Jackie and Pete later relocated to Collinsville, Illinois where they stayed until Pete's passing in 2012.
Too stubborn to settle for outliving a single husband, Jackie took a second, her childhood friend Philip G. Hess whom she married in 2013. Jackie and Phil enjoyed their twilight years together until his passing in 2021.
Jackie will be remembered as a strong and impassioned woman who commanded respect, did right by everyone she met, and lived every day to the fullest. She is survived by her four children, her sister Marian, and great many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services are to be held Monday, November 14, 2022 at Laclede Groves Chapel, 723 South Laclede Station Road, Webster Groves, Missouri 63119 at 12 noon. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of mass. A lunch will follow.
Guests are invited to wear blue, Jackie's favorite color, to honor her memory if they would like.
