Dennis Joseph Sands' Obituary
Dennis Joseph Sands passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Mercy South de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 79 years and 11 days.
Dennis was born on April 10, 1944 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Joseph Sands and Alice Sands (nee Graczyk).
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Carol Ann Sands (nee Baran); children: Richard Sands, Dennis (Michelle) Sands, and Kristen (Andre Bonifacio) Sands-Bonifacio; grandchildren: Alexander Sands, Sam Fisher, Kathryn Sands, Elizabeth Sands, Giovanna Bonifacio, Evangelia Bonfacio, and Madelyn Sands; and sisters: Marlene Horner and Alice (Michael) Lubien.
Dennis is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many great friends.
Dennis served as an Information Technology Executive in the Insurance Industry for over 20 years. He believed in empowering his co-workers to be innovative and self-motivated, while providing direction where it was needed.
Dennis was quite the handyman at home and could fix or build anything he put his mind to. He was always there to help family members with their home improvement projects as well.
Dennis was an absolute rock, with a loving, soft underbelly. His family and friends will always appreciate his wit and intelligence, but much more so, his humanity. His family looked to him for direction, yet all along the way, his greatest gift was teaching them how to be independent, loving beings who treated others as we would want to be treated. His wife, children, and grandchildren are eternally grateful for him.
A private family celebration for Dennis will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider making a donation in Dennis' name to Mercy South de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis, Missouri or any local food bank.
