Jon was born and raised in Farmington, Missouri. He started working at a local funeral home when he was 15 years only and quickly developed a passion for the funeral business. After high school he attended St. Louis Community College – Forest Park and earned his degree in Funeral Service Education.
Jon has worked in the funeral industry for over 15 years. He is a Missouri licensed funeral director, embalmer, and crematory operator.
Jon’s skepticism about Aquamation turned into fascination which ultimately led to the realization that it would be a welcomed choice to families as they make funeral arrangements. Jon’s committed to provide the best service possible to families.

Lacey’s family has lived in St. Louis for generations and her roots run deep throughout the city.
Spending nearly 20 years in the veterinary/ animal welfare industry, Lacey researched and studied the
benefits of the “human/animal bond” extensively.
While at a discussion regarding therapy pet visits for the terminally ill, Lacey met a “Death Midwife” for
the first time. She was inspired by the idea of helping families take back the care and control of their
loved ones “end of life” care. After researching this growing occupation a bit more, Lacey enrolled in a
Death Midwife workshop and became certified herself!
During her training Lacey became fascinated with Aquamation, as a “greener” alternative to fire based
cremation. She met with Jon Hughes to discuss the option for herself one day. This initial meeting
turned into several, and before long Lacey was talking about Aquamation with just about anyone who
would listen- including her network of Death Midwives all across the country that wanted to know more.
Lacey recently obtained her Limited Funeral Directors License and is very proud to partner with Hughes
Funeral Alternatives, by providing both Death Midwifery services as well as Aquamations.
